Looking for some good old Christmas films to stream for free for a movie night with your friends or flatmates this December? We’ve got a great selection below for you to choose from!
It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)
An oldie but an absolute goldie – and currently ready to stream free of charge thanks to ITVX. Don’t forget the tissues though, because while this one has an uplifting ending it is *pretty* sad…
Make or Bake Christmas (2024)
Channel 5 really is home to a great selection of cheesy Hallmark-esque Christmas romance films, which are easy to watch and don’t require much in the way of concentration. And that’s exactly where you can stream this festive wonder – make sure you have some sweet treats for this one!
Home Alone (1990)
While we can pretty much guarantee you’ve seen it before, Home Alone never gets old! You can stream this festive favourite for free via Channel 4.
Scrooge: A Christmas Carol (1951)
Yes it’s super old but this is an absolute Christmas classic – a movie version of the Dickens story, featuring Alastair Sim and Mervyn Johns. You can (and should) watch it for free on Channel 5.
Remember – as a student, you don’t need to pay for a TV license! Make the most of it.
Violent Night (2022)
A bit of a rogue choice, perhaps, but David Harbour features in this “violent Christmas comedy” which you can watch on Channel 4, completely free.
Open by Christmas (2021)
Another cosy Hallmark film, this story follows Nicky who discovers an unopened Christmas card from a secret admirer – from way back when she was in high school. Stream for free on Channel 5.
Love Actually (2003)
Wondering where to stream Love Actually for free this Christmas? ITVX has it, and it’s a must-watch. Justice for Emma Thompson…
Letters from Christmas Past (2020)
A straight-to-TV, cheesy holiday romance with an element of mystery – aka, the perfect film to put on in the background while you’re brushing up on your revision. You can stream it via Channel 5 right now.
As we mentioned, Channel 5 has plenty of cheesy romance films with a festive twist – and so does YouTube. A lot of the proper classics aren’t available for free streaming, but there are still plenty of Christmas films to choose from without having to spend a penny.
