The Greyhound, Longlevens
10 minutes in a taxi/Uber, or around 25 minutes on public transport, from our Blackfriars Residence, The Greyhound is a great modern pub which shows all of the Premier League matches on both Sky Sports and TNT Sports. They also show rugby, European football matches and more! With a regularly updated online schedule of the matches they’ll be showing, tasty food and a wide range of drinks, it’s a great option for watching football in Gloucester.
The Avenue, Bristol Road
You can walk here in just 25 minutes from Blackfriars Residence – and The Avenue is part of the same chain as The Greyhound, so they also show all the live games Sky and TNT have to offer. Again, you’ll be able to check specific matches on their website so you can know what’s on before you go!
One Eyed Jack’s, Barton Street
Just a 15 minute walk away from Blackfriars you’ll find One Eyed Jack’s, which is a great sports bar that has both Sky and TNT. This makes it a great spot for watching football in Gloucester, as well as relaxing in the beer garden (when the weather allows…) or playing darts, pool and skittles. This is a traditional looking pub that isn’t typically filled with students, but it’s a good one to have on your radar.
The High Orchard, Gloucester Quays
Again just a 15 minute walk from our Gloucester student accommodation, The High Orchard is perfect for watching football if you’re in a bigger group. With offers on food and drink every single day, and the ability to order & pay via your phone, it’s a great spot for making a day or night of it. While they don’t typically show all the games, they do show the bigger events and matches so it’s well worth asking or checking in advance.
Three Oaks, Baneberry Road
A bit further away (but still just a 10 minute taxi from Blackfriars), Three Oaks have big screens ready for all the games across TNT, Sky and Amazon Prime. You can book, and they also do food – with veggie and vegan options too. There’s pool, darts and a beer garden, so it’s another great option for where to watch the match in Gloucester.
