Whether it’s secret Santa with your flatmates or gifts for loved ones back home, Christmas shopping can get expensive! If you’re shopping on a budget, there are some really great bits and pieces you can get which don’t look ‘cheap’ – things people will use, treasure and appreciate. We’ve got some ideas below!
Homemade foodie gifts
People love when you really put effort into something – and nothing says effort like homemade sweet treats! From fudge in their favourite flavour to festive-themed brownies, there are so many ideas out there. Pop them in a paper bag which you can decorate with cute Christmassy drawings or present them in an empty jam jar!
Personalised gifts
You don’t have to spend a lot to get lovely personalised presents this Christmas; find some photos of you and your loved ones, and turn them into magnets, keyrings or simply frame them. Look out for Black Friday offers to get these at super low prices. Your family and friends will love these little gifts so much.
Travel or mini sets
Know somebody who has an absolute favourite beauty product? If you can’t make your budget stretch to the full size, top up their travel essentials with a mini version – everything from cleansers to foundation, shampoos to exfoliators… they all come in super small bottles for a fraction of the price, and if you know somebody who travels a lot they’ll definitely appreciate this.
Vouchers with a difference
You can really easily (either digitally or by getting crafty with pens & paper) make vouchers for your loved ones – whether it’s for a future day out like a trip to the cinema or a meal out, or for something completely free like night in together or you cooking their dinner for them. Make memories or just give someone a helping hand… they’ll love it.
Tiny hampers
Want to make someone a hamper on a limited budget? Opt for a mug hamper instead! Pick up a Christmas mug (Primark, Poundland and even charity shops have plenty for really low prices) and add in some little bits like a lip balm, a hot chocolate sachet, some fluffy socks, a candy cane or their favourite chocolate, and voila!
Charity shop finds
Why not set a challenge between you all, and opt for secondhand purchases? You could pick a budget of say £10, and see what you can find in the charity shops or thrift stores – this helps to limit overconsumption and means you’ll find some hidden gems without breaking the bank. Charity shops have everything from clothes to candles, books to brooches, vases to vinyls… and they’re so fun to browse.
Christmas isn’t all about gifts – it should also be about spending time with loved ones, reflecting on the year, and being grateful for everything you have. But of course, we all love to spoil our favourite people and hopefully these ideas can help you do so without splashing too much cash…
