Moving into student accommodation is an amazing moment – gaining independence, making new friends, and settling into a space you can call your own. But how can you add personality to your room without sticking things to the walls? We’ve got you covered with some really easy ways to do just that!
Dress your bed
You’ll get a small double bed in your room at our Blackfriars Residence and No.1 Station Approach locations – and there’s plenty you can do with your bed to really bring some personality into your space, and make it even more comfortable. Opt for colourful bedding that reflects who you are; choose bottom sheets in your favourite colour, and patterned duvet covers and pillow cases that you really love. Add cushions with fun slogans, cosy blankets to snuggle up under, and your favourite teddies or stuffed toys – come on, you’re never too old…
Get some frames
You’ll have desk space and other surfaces available to inject with personality, too. Head to charity shops and budget stores to find fun, affordable frames – then fill them with things that are simply a bit of you. Whether that be photos of you and your family or friends, artwork you love or quotes that mean something to you, frames are a really simple touch that can make your student accommodation space feel a bit more like your own.
Become a plant parent
Whether you opt for fake foliage or invest your time in real house plants, greenery is such an easy way to bring a touch of personality into your bedroom. Fake plants only need dusting from time to time, whereas houseplants need to be properly cared for so be sure to do your research! Opt for fun pots or ones which fit your colour scheme, and you’ll be on your way to adding much more fun to your student accommodation.
Don’t forget the floor
A really easy way to add a pop of colour to your space is by getting a rug – see if you can find one which matches your bedding or blankets for a cohesive look. Rugs help to break up a space and can really elevate your student accommodation bedroom into a properly stylish room that’s all yours.
Add some trinkets
Again, make use of surface space! If you’re a reader, stack some of your favourite books on your windowsill for example – or if you’re into Lego, pop some of your best sets on your shelves. Cute trinket dishes to hold your jewellery, pots for loose change, figurines of your favourite characters; these are all really easy, inexpensive and small ways to add some of your glowing personality to a space that can otherwise be quite plain.
Adding personality into your student accommodation bedroom doesn’t have to cost a lot, and it’s super easy to do without causing any damage. Follow these tips and be sure to tag us on Instagram so we can see how you decide to dress up your space.
