Whether you have a shared bathroom or you’re living in student accommodation with an en-suite, you need to have your self-care products in order. We’ll discuss the basics, and then some fun added extras – personal care and hygiene is really important, so it’s vital you have everything you need. As well as some things you want too, of course!
Haircare
Of course this looks slightly different for everybody, depending on the length, style and type of hair you have, but generally these are the must-haves:
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
Really, that’s it in terms of what you need. But here are some extras you might want to add into your self care or personal hygiene routine, especially if you do have hair that’s dyed, particularly long, or really curly…
- Hair mask or oil
- Leave-in conditioner
- Dry shampoo
- Styling wax or gel
- Heat protectant spray (a must if you use heat on your hair)
- Mousse
- Curl cream
Skincare
Protecting your skin will help you look and feel better, maintaining a youthful glow no matter how stressful your studies are… these are the basic essentials:
- Cleanser
- Moisturiser
- SPF
And of course, you might want to take things a bit more seriously – many people have 10-step skincare routines, and while this isn’t necessary it can be a really great way to unwind at the end of the day. Here are some ideas of other skincare products to add to your collection:
- Serum
- Lip balm
- Toner
- Facial oil
- Face masks
- Eye cream
- Blemish patches
Body care
The very basics of body care are cheap and easy to get hold of, helping you stay clean and smelling delightful:
- Shower gel
- Wash cloth/flannel
- Deodorant
And again, there are more products you can personally add into your routine if you see fit:
- Body butter or lotion
- Fake tan
- Body scrub
- Perfume or scented body spray
- Razors or wax strips
- Exfoliating glove
Other self-care items and products
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Mouthwash
- Floss
- Vitamins
This non-exhaustive list offers an idea of the self-care must-haves you should pack when moving into student accommodation, or buy when you get there, as well as some added extras which can help you feel your best.
