On Thursday 13th August, A-level students across the UK will be eagerly opening results, celebrating, and thinking about the next steps in their academic career. And if you’re one of them, everyone here at Aspire is wishing you the best of luck as you embark on this exciting next chapter. Here’s everything you need to know about the day…
What time are A-level results available?
The UCAS Hub should be updated from 8am, and it’s entirely up to you whether you check there first or if you wait to collect your actual results. UCAS will let you know if your university place has been confirmed, but it won’t show you what your actual marks are for the courses you took at college or sixth form. The time that your current place of education releases your results will differ, so make sure you’re prepared.
Note – you may get rejected by your firm choice and given a place at your insurance choice instead. Either way, this place will be automatically confirmed by UCAS without you needing to do anything.
What happens if you get the A-level results you need?
If you get the A-level results you need, then firstly a huge congratulations is in order and secondly, you’ll have a bit of a to-do list. None of it should be too urgent, but make sure you check your emails to see if there’s any correspondence from your chosen university about next steps. While results day itself should be dedicated to celebrating, start thinking about the following:
- Confirming your student accommodation
- Making sure all your documentation is up to date and in order
- Enrolment and what date your course starts
- Consider your move-in date
- Look into any welcome events you might want to attend
- Putting together a shopping list for things you’ll need
What happens if you don’t get the A-level results you need?
First of all, don’t panic. Check your UCAS Hub if you haven’t already, as you might have been accepted to one of your chosen courses regardless; Clearing is a great option, used by thousands upon thousands of students every year who go on to have the most incredible university experience. Take a few minutes to sit with your feelings – it’s okay to be disappointed and upset. We’ve written all about Clearing and how it works, so take some time to familiarise yourself with the process.
Student accommodation open days
If you haven’t made your decision yet when it comes to student accommodation, don’t hesitate – you don’t want to miss out on a space! On the other hand, new spaces might become available if other people have missed out on their marks, so you’ll hopefully be able to book a room somewhere you love.
We have open days coming up this weekend for our fresh and modern student accommodation in Hereford and Gloucester. Come along to see Blackfriars Residence in Gloucester on Saturday 15th August 2026, between 11am and 5pm. You’ll be able to view the accommodation and meet the staff too – no reservation needed.
And on Sunday 16th August 2026, pop along to No.1 Station Approach in Hereford between 11am and 3pm, where staff will also be on hand to answer your questions and assist with bookings. We’d love to see you!
