Finding your favourite study spots can be one of the best parts of moving away for university – while working from your student accommodation has its perks, mainly that you can do so in your pyjamas, a change of scenery can do you the world of good. You might stumble upon a hidden gem, or just find somewhere that you want to come back to with your laptop and books again, again and again. Here are some of our favourite study spots in Hereford!
Dough, Commercial Street, HR1 2BS
Open from 9am-3.30pm every day, Dough is a small and independent coffee shop with great pastries – and it’s typically super quiet mid-morning. Take your laptop, enjoy a nice coffee, and even treat yourself to brunch if your loan has just dropped… 12 mins walk from No.1 Station Approach.
The Sacred Brew Coffee Shop, Eign Gate, HR4 0AB
Looking for a calm, underrated spot with mellow background music, ambient sounds and affordable coffee? Look no further; The Sacred Brew is open 8.30am-4.30pm daily, except for Sundays. The perfect spot to relax with your books if you’ve got some reading to catch up on! 20 mins walk from No.1 Station Approach.
De Koffie Pot, Bridge Street, HR4 9DG
If you need somewhere that feels bold enough to let your creative juices flow, De Koffie Pot is one of the best study spots in Hereford. It has fantastic character, a gorgeous riverside location, and a really welcoming vibe. It’s also a pub as well as a café, so if you lose track of time while studying you can even grab a beer or cocktail afterwards! Opening hours vary. 22 mins walk from No.1 Station Approach.
Lyde Court Cafe, Lyde Court, HR1 3AE
If you or one of your flatmates have a car, this is a great option for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city – a real change of scenery to help you get in the flow of studying. Nestled in the countryside with gourmet coffee, weekly cake specials and a great cafe menu, there are far worse places to study in Hereford! You could even take a break from the books and go for a hike in nature: the perfect way to switch off and enjoy some fresh air. 12 min drive from No.1 Station Approach.
The Shed @ Warehouse 701, Fordshill Road, HR2 6NS
Located within architectural salvage yard Warehouse 701, there are few places more likely to really spark your creative juices – just don’t get too distracted! The Shed is open from 9am-4pm daily, and is described as a contemporary coffee house set amongst the flamboyant Victorian cast-iron columns and feature lighting of a charming glass atrium. A delightful place to study! 15 min drive or 20 min cycle from No.1 Station Approach.
The Living Room, Commercial Road, HR1 2BB
Support a local organisation while you get some reading and book-studying done – The Living Room is a community space and larder, but it also has a lovely cafe with great food and even better coffee. The profits go directly back into the charity, helping them offer much needed support to the local population. They’re open 9am-3.30pm on weekdays! 11 mins walk from No.1 Station Approach.
All of these cafés and coffee shops in and around Hereford make a great option for a place to study when you need a change of scenery – whether it’s a solo session with your books or a group study session testing each other on upcoming exam topics…
